I have had a gut-wrenching fear of this
river since I can remember. It is probably one of the ugliest rivers in
the country, brown and utterly opaque, with sheer concrete sides all the
way through the city, little turbulent eddies showing the raw power of
the undercurrents. Few who fall in this river survive to tell of it. So
I take photographs of it to exorcise my inner demons. If I can see that
horrible brown sluggish dribble looking all pretty and serene, it might
make me fear it less. Maybe.
