At dusk one night, we saw this mist crawling
up the valley outside the cottage, oozing its way upwards. Naturally, I
ran out with my camera and tripod, knocking over everyone else in the process.
Apparently, the chap in the cottage next door explained, this mist is seen
over areas of solid clay, where there is likely to be coal seams - this
was how early coal miners would find a promising area to dig, by looking
out for these mists after rainfall!
